Full frontal nudity and violent historical re-enactment (clothed),in
suburban gardens ? We didn't expect it at Memoir. But DVDs of members' old ciné
films showed boisterous children having a whale of a time in the sunshine in the
days before we covered them in suncream. They fought enthusiastically with
broomsticks and bin lids !
Holidays in Holland and homes in Germany
triggered memories which will help us all to fill our notebooks and
folders.NEXT MEETING: 2 till 4pm at Joyce's on Monday April 25. 'Phone : 8086 6201

The memoir group had a lively discussion on such
topics as Granny's jewellery (one of the members was wearing a lovely pink
necklace from her Granny). We then talked about travel to different parts of the
world.
songs of Guy Mitchell, (She wore Red Feathers and a
hully hully skirt) which had the whole group trying to sing.
Finally teaching teenagers to be adults through
reading the Lord of the Flies.

MEMOIR : MONDAY JAN 25 2016
At last we were able to meet at Joyce's
again now she is feeling better. A lively discussion about houses we have lived
in and the vagaries of evacuation, some billets with the 'gentry', others with
'hoi polloi'.Humour and tragedy.A lady called Hyacinth (!) greeted one group;
other children bought a knitting bag for their teacher whose family and home had
been destroyed by a land mine .No doubt it was a treasured possession for a
while.Everyone is writing their piece before they come now.Once they start, they say, it's hard to stop.We all hope such records will please family in years to come.

A new member from Lordshill today at Phyll's ; our subject was Christmases
Past.As always, reminiscence ranged with abandon over the last 80 years. Father
Christmas was real then, so we wrote to him.Presents were small and simple but
food extra special.Decorations were homemade and living trees 'acquired' with a
spade in the boot of the old Ford. And in hot East Africa, children ate
generous Christmas meals while wondering what on earth was a robin in the snow
!
We meet at Phyll's again on Monday January 11th for more entertaining
memories from 2 till 4pm.
